Canine Good Citizen (CGC)
The AKC canine good citizen program is designed to encourage people to train their dogs to be "good citizens". There are 10 individual exercises (tests) which include sitting politely to be pet, walking on a loose leash, reactions to other dogs, etc. We offer a five-week "refresher" class which is four weeks of practice with the test being given on the 5th week. All 10 exercises are pass/fail and need to be passed all at once to earn the certificate of CGC. Many landlords, insurance companies, and therapy dog organizations strongly suggest, and in some cases require, a CGC certificate. We are AKC approved to issue the test, and will gladly provide you with the requirements/parameters of the program if you call or stop in. Information is also available at www.akc.org. Cost includes test fee.
